»Non-Orientable Take-Away«
The title of the exhibition refers to a dominant element of the work: the Möbius-Band. This is a band twisted in such a way that it has only one surface and only one edge; therefore mathematicians describe it as »non-orientable«. In many paintings, shapes abstracted from the Möbius-Band are »taken-away« from the top layer of paint and, acting like portholes, allow glimpses of what's behind. |
